Frequently Asked Questions about Transitioning

We recommend you transition between flavours over a few days, however if your pet has a sensitive stomach we suggest you transition more slowly over a week. Please refer to our transition guide.

We recommend a gradual transition when changing your pet’s diet, to minimize the potential for digestive issues, and to allow your pet’s digestive system time to adjust to the high nutritional value of our recipes. Start with a small amount of Ziwi added to your pets’ current food then gradually increase the amount Ziwi, while reducing the other food over a period of at least 7 days. Please refer to our transition guide.

It is not unusual for your pet to experience soft stools during the first few weeks when transitioning to Ziwi or any other new food. Many pet parents report that their pet’s stools are smaller and firmer after they adjust to their new Ziwi recipe, due to its high digestibility. If your pet’s stool continues to be loose, it may be an indication of being overfed. Be sure to weigh your pet regularly, consider other foods and treats your pet receives and adjust the feeding amount accordingly.
